BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – After dropping the first two sets, the undefeated University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team stormed back to take the next three and claim a 3-2 win over visiting Bentley University in non-conference action Tuesday night at Hubbell Gymnasium. Scores were 19-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-18 and 15-9.

Bentley, which was looking to hand a team its first loss for the second straight match, slipped to 5-4. The win was the seventh of the year for the Purple Knights, who held the Falcons to a .034 hitting percentage over the final three sets.

The Falcons closed out the opening set with a 10-3 run after being down 16-.15. Junior Kirsten Segaline (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain HS), who led Bentley with 14 kills, had four during that run.

The momentum carried over into the second with the Falcons earning the first ten points. Bridgeport battled back to draw within four several times before Bentley closed it out.

The third was even at 18 apiece before the Purple Knights stayed alive by picking up seven of the next ten points. Bridgeport also staged a closing run in the fifth, this time 11-3 after Bentley was on top 6-4.

Bridgeport was led by senior Amanda Hennemann (Nova Petropolis, Brazil), with 20 kills, 14 digs, two blocks and a .278 hitting percentage. Sophomore Amanda Keller hit .312 with 13 kills and five blocks, and sophomore setter Carly Killorin (Centennial, Colo.) provided 48 assists, 13 digs and two blocks.

Bentley came up with 101 digs in the match, including a career-best 30 by freshman libero Jenna Giaquinto (Lighthouse Point, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons HS).

Senior setter Xio Lopp (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead HS) and Segaline both posted double-doubles for the Falcons. Lopp finished with 34 kills, 18 digs, four blocks, three aces and two kills, and Segaline complemented her 14 kills with ten digs. Bentley also received 11 kills from senior All-Conference captain Rachel Bruno (San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker School).

On Saturday, Bentley will be at Franklin Pierce for a triangular with Roberts Wesleyan.
