WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University's Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS), a Capital One NCAA Division II Academic All-America and a four-time Division II All-America, has been selected for the 2012 Northeast-10 Conference Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award for women's outdoor track.

It's the second Sport Excellence Award of the year for Varsell, a rising senior.  Previously, she was recognized as the conference's top scholar-athlete in women's indoor track.

In addition, Varsell was voted to the Women's Outdoor Track Academic All-Northeast-10 team for the second time. Her resume includes five Academic All-NE-10 nods as she has also been recognized indoor twice and in cross country once.

Varsell's junior year included three Northeast-10 championships, including a double in the 800 and 1500 outdoors, and a third-place finish in the outdoor 800 at the New Englands. She placed fifth in the 800 at the NCAA Division II outdoor championships and was third in the same event indoors.

Her list of honors, in addition to the ones previously referenced, included USTFCCCA Division II East Region Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year and Northeast-10 Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.

In the classroom, Varsell has worked to attain a grade point average exceeding 3.8 while majoring in corporate finance and accounting. She's made the President's List following each of her first six semesters
