    Freshman Kelsey Cockrill (Haymarket, Va.) pitched a two-hit shutout in the opener and both center fielder Brittany Bucko (Wallington, N.J.) and sophomore left fielder Julie Muscarella (Suffield, Conn.) drove in four runs in the nightcap as Southern Connecticut State took two from Bentley University, 9-0 and 14-1, in Northeast-10 Conference softball Saturday afternoon at Bentley.

    Junior second baseman Lucy Francisco (Lawrence) hit a three-run double to break a 2-2 tie in the seventh inning of the opener and sophomore lefty Kelsey Malloy (Clarksburg) pitched a two-hit shutout in the nightcap as the University of New Haven swept Bentley University, 7-2 and 2-0, in Northeast-10 Conference softball at Bentley Friday afternoon.

    A walk-off single by freshman catcher Andrea Crowley (Norfolk) gave Assumption College a 2-1 game-one win and the Greyhounds went on to complete a doubleheader sweep of Bentley University with an 11-1 game two victory in Northeast-10 Conference softball Sunday afternoon at Marois Field.

    Sophomore right fielder Chelsea Tamuk (Port Jefferson, N.Y./Earl L. Vandermeulen HS) scored the tying run in the bottom of the seventh and ended the game with an RBI single in the first extra inning as Bentley University rallied for a 2-1 eight-inning game two win and a split of its Northeast-10 Conference softball doubleheader with The College of Saint Rose Saturday afternoon on the Bentley field. The Golden Knights had prevailed in the opener by the count of 5-1.

    Junior second baseman Laura McDonough (Braintree, Mass./Braintree HS) had three hits, including two doubles, and four RBI as Bentley University topped Pace University, 8-3, in the second half of a Northeast-10 Conference softball doubleheader at Pace Field Sunday afternoon. In the opener, Pace prevailed 7-3 after breaking a 3-3 tie with a four-run sixth.

Ficke Field.

    Senior catcher Lindsi Panarelli (Shrewsbury) had four hits, including two homers, and seven RBI, and sophomore third baseman Ali Ferraro (Kingston, N.Y.) was four-for-six with four RBI in the doubleheader, as UMass-Lowell swept Bentley University, 11-0 and 7-1, in Northeast-10 Conference women’s softball Wednesday afternoon at River View Field.

    Junior Jessica Furtado (Laconia, N.H.) drove in five runs, including two on a game one home run, as Franklin Pierce University swept Bentley University, 10-2 and 3-0, in Northeast-10 Conference softball Monday afternoon at the FPU Softball Field.

    Freshman third baseman Hannah Byrne (Lynn) had five RBI in game one and a total of five hits, and freshman Alexis Bogdanovich (South Portland, Maine) provided 4.1 innings of quality relief in the nightcap as Saint Anselm College swept Bentley University, 9-1 and 7-4, in Northeast-10 Conference softball Sunday afternoon. The first game was halted after six innings.

    Junior left fielder Erica Thibodeau (Cohoes, N.Y./Shaker HS) drove in three runs to help the Bentley University softball team win game two against Stonehill College, 4-3 to split a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon in the Northeast-10 Conference opener for the Falcons. The Skyhawks won the first game, 5-1.
  • Bentley Closes Out Florida Trip with Losses to Lock Haven & Mercy; 4-Hit Friday for Connor

    Freshman outfielder Shannon Connor (West Haven, Conn./West Haven HS) had four hits in five at bats Friday for the Bentley University softball team, but the Falcons closed out its Florida trip with losses to both Lock Haven University, 10-2, and Mercy College, 2-0, at the National Training Center.

    The Bentley University softball team came up short twice on Monday as the Falcons were blanked by nationally-ranked Winona State, 5-0, and dropped a 4-3 decision to Alderson-Broaddus College on a walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh.

    Junior leftfielder Erica Thibodeau (Cohoes, N.Y./Shaker HS) was 3-fo-3 with two triples and three RBI, and junior Carly Taitz (Blue Point, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point HS) made a successful return to the center circle, as Bentley University opened its 2012 softball season with an 11-1 win over the University of Bridgeport Saturday evening at the National Training Center. The game was halted due to the eight-run rule in the middle of the fifth.
