EASTON, Mass. – Three days after having its 19-match Northeast-10 regular season unbeaten streak snapped, the Bentley University men's tennis team got right back in the win column with a 6-3 victory at Stonehill on Wednesday afternoon.
The Falcons won two of the three doubles matches and four of the six singles matches. Sophomores Lucas Wever (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Chapel School) and Rodrigo Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Chapel School) were beaten in the top-flight doubles match by Tim Fayed and Nicholas Hyzak 8-4, but Bentley won the second and third flight matches.
Juniors Alec Spycher (Sarasota, Fla./Saint Stephens Episcopal) and Zach Tuckman (Kinnelon, N.J./Morristown Beard School) defeated Chris Martin and Aaron Bergeron 8-2 in the second-flight, and junior Victor Suski (West Hartford, Conn./William Hall) and freshman Andrew Waddington (Granby, Conn./Granby Memorial) felled Jon Burke and Brett Armstrong 8-4 in the third-flight.
In singles, Wever was a winner over Fayed in the top-flight, 7-6,6-3. Tuckman was victorious over Burke 6-2, 6-0 in the second-flight, Ribeiro defeated Martin 6-1, 6-0 in the third-flight and Spycher knocked off Bergeron 6-3, 6-3 in the fourth-flight.
The Falcons improve to 8-7 overall and 8-1 in the NE-10, and Stonehill drops to 10-5 on the season and 5-2 in the league. Bentley's next match is Sunday afternoon at Le Moyne.
