Waltham, Mass. – Seniors Alex Astarita (Bedford, N.H./Bishop Guertin), Sam Hurley (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) and Jack Taddeo (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) will be the captains of the 2019 Bentley University men's lacrosse team.
The trio of seniors will lead the Falcons into their first game of the season on Saturday, on the road against New York Tech at 1:00 pm.
Hurley was a captain last season as a junior, and he'll enter his senior year as one of the top scorers among active players in the Northeast-10. A midfielder, he has 77 career points on 47 goals and 30 assists, and will likely hit the 100 point mark for his career at some point this season. For the 2018 season, he was 3rd on the team in points with 31 on 17 goals and 14 assists, which helped him earn first team All-New England honors.
Astarita was second on the team in points last year with 34, and was second in both goals with 22 and assists with 12. He'll enter his senior year with 82 career points in 39 games, an average of better than two points per game. He's scored 57 goals, to go along with 25 assists in his career.
Taddeo started all 13 games last season and was one of the anchors of the team's defense. He led the team in both ground balls (28) and caused turnovers (12), and capped his year by being named to the NE10 All-Academic team.
This season, all Bentley home games and NE10 games can be seen on NE10 Now free of charge. The Falcons will play their home opener against Roberts Wesleyan on March 9, and their NE10 opener is on March 13 at Le Moyne.
