  • Bentley Athletics Garners Seven Northeast-10 Team Academic Awards

    Seven Bentley University athletic teams have been presented with Team Academic Excellence Awards by the Northeast-10 Conference for the 2010-11 academic year. The awards honor the teams with the highest grade point average in each of the conference’s sponsored sports.

    WALTHAM, Mass. – Four players from the Bentley men’s lacrosse team have been named Division II All-New England by the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association; seniors Dante Mancini (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) and Matt Boilard (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug), junior Brendan Grant (Walpole, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) and freshman Nick Astarita (Bedford, N.H./Bishop Guertin).

    WALTHAM, Mass. – For the second time this season, Bentley University’s Mike O’Neil (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead) has been named the Northeast-10 Goalie of the Week. O’Neil had a 4.50 goals against average and a .609 save percentage in two games last week.

    RINDGE, N.H. – Bentley University outscored Franklin Pierce 11-1 in the second half on its way to a 14-4 victory over the Ravens Sunday afternoon in Northeast-10 men’s lacrosse. The win is the second straight for the Falcons, who improve to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the NE-10.

The Class of 2010 consists of Kim (Cummings) Singh ’96 (women’s basketball), Julie Doherty ’02 (women’s cross country and track), Gary Mello ’01 (men’s cross country and track), Mike Rymsha ’96 (football), Kevin Van Dam ’02 (men’s basketball) and Scott Yavarow ‘02 (men’s soccer and lacrosse).
