  • Bentley Releases 2014-15 Hockey Schedule

    The Bentley University hockey team has released its 2014-15 schedule. The 34-game slate features 28 Atlantic Hockey games and six non-conference contests, including two games at Penn State Oct. 30 and Oct. 31.
  • Battista & Gensler Named Bentley’s Outstanding Senior Athletes; Battista Also Recipient of Powers Award

    Three-time All-America Lauren Battista (North Easton/Oliver Ames HS), who led the women’s basketball team to the NCAA Division II national championship, and Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms), the top scorer in Atlantic Hockey history, have been named the Outstanding Senior Athletes at Bentley University. Battista, who graduated last weekend with a sparkling 3.96 GPA, was also the recipient of the Edward J. Powers Scholar-Athlete Award as Bentley’s premier senior scholar-athlete.

    Bentley University defenseman Steve Weinstein (Los Angeles, Calif/Vernon Vipers) and former Falcon Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms) have been named to the 2013-14 New England Hockey Writers Division I All-Star team.
  • Weinstein Named a Finalist for Walter Brown Award

    Bentley University junior defenseman Steve Weinstein (Los Angeles, Calif./Vernon Vipers) was named one of three finalists for the 62nd Walter Brown Award, given to the best American-born college hockey player in New England, the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston announced Wednesday morning.
  • Gensler Signs With ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays

    The South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL announced Saturday that they signed former Bentley hockey standout Brett Gensler. The Stingrays are affiliated with the Boston Bruins and the AHL’s Providence Bruins.

    Junior Brett Switzer (Calgary, Alberta/Spruce Grove Saints) scored just 40 seconds into overtime to cap a thrilling comeback as Bentley defeated Canisius 4-3 in game one of the Atlantic Hockey quarterfinals Friday night at Ryan Arena.
  • Bentley Set to Host Canisius in Atlantic Hockey Quarterfinals Series

    Second-seeded Bentley gets its push for the Atlantic Hockey title underway on Friday night when they host seventh-seeded Canisius in game one of a best-of-three quarterfinal series at Ryan Arena. Game two is Saturday night and game three, if necessary, will be Sunday evening. Each game begins at 7:05 pm.

    A league-high six Bentley Falcons received All-Atlantic Hockey honors as voted on by the conference’s 12 head coaches, it was announced Thursday morning. Senior forward Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms) and junior defenseman Steve Weinstein (Los Angeles, Calif./Vernon Vipers) led the way by being named to the first team.

    The Bentley University hockey team defeated AIC 5-1 Friday night on Senior Night at Ryan Arena as the Falcons clinched a first round bye in the upcoming Atlantic Hockey Tournament. Senior right winger Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms) notched one goal and one assist to become the AHA’s all-time leading scorer.

    The Bentley hockey team will close out the 2013-14 regular season this weekend with a home-and-home series against Atlantic Hockey rival the AIC Yellow Jackets. Friday night’s game takes place in Watertown at Ryan Arena where the team’s seven seniors will be honored on Senior Night.

    The Bentley hockey team used a second period explosion where they scored five goals to power past Army 6-1 in the Atlantic Hockey series opener Friday night in West Point. Junior Alex Grieve (Calgary, Alberta/Westside Warriors) had two goals to lead the way.

    With only three weekends left in the regular season, Bentley, second-place in Atlantic Hockey, will take on the Army Black Knights in a home-and-home series. The series opens Friday night at Army’s Tate Rink in West Point, N.Y. On Saturday the series shifts to Watertown with the Falcons playing host.

    The University of Connecticut used a stout defensive performance and goals from three different skaters to take a 3-0 victory over the Bentley University hockey team in the opener of an Atlantic Hockey series Friday night.
  • Gensler Named Atlantic Hockey Player of the Month

    Senior right winger Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms) was named the Atlantic Hockey Player of the Month for January, it was announced on Thursday by the conference office. Gensler helped Bentley go 4-1-3 in eight January games.
  • Bentley Faces UConn in Home-and-Home Atlantic Hockey Series

    There’s just four weekends left in the regular season, and the Bentley hockey team faces another big test this weekend when they take on the UConn Huskies in a home-and-home Atlantic Hockey series. Friday’s game is at Freitas Ice Forum in Storrs, Conn., and Saturday’s tilt takes place at Ryan Arena in Watertown. Both games begin at 7:05 pm.

    Mercyhurst College scored three times in the third period to defeat Bentley University 4-1 in Atlantic Hockey action Saturday night. The Lakers extend their lead to four points over the Falcons for first-place in the AHA standings.

    In a game that was appropriate for the two teams atop the Atlantic Hockey standings, Bentley and Mercyhurst played to a 2-2 tie Friday night at the Ice Center. The Falcons outshot Mercyhurst 34-30 on the night.
