WALTHAM, Mass. – Assumption College scored 31 unanswered points in the second half, a flurry capped by a 66-yard pick-six with 32 seconds left, and defeated Bentley University 52-31 in Northeast-10 Conference action Saturday afternoon at Bentley.

Seven different Greyhounds reached the end zone as Assumption improved to 6-3 overall and 6-2 NE10. The Senior Day loss snapped a two-game winning streak for Bentley and dropped the Falcons to 3-6 overall and 3-5 conference.

The first half was back-and-forth as the two teams returned to the locker room even at 21 points apiece after Bentley sophomore quarterback Stephen Sturm (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley HS) finished an eight-play, 72-yard drive running it in from the one. That 82-second possession featured a 17-yard catch by senior wide receiver Jordan Zlogar (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa HS), an Assumption pass interference call and an 18-yard catch by freshman Noah Neville (Boston/Newton North HS) to the one.

It took Bentley only 1:39 to open a 7-0 lead. Following a 26-yard kickoff return by freshman Isaiah Collins (Dorchester/Belmont Hill School) to open the game, Sturm completed passes to sophomore Andrew Brazicki (Franklin Park, N.J./Bishop Ahr HS), for 27 yards, and Zlorgar. He followed with a 17-yard run of his own and junior Tommy Wilson (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) finished the four-play drive with a 15-yard run.

Following a pair of Assumption touchdowns, Bentley forged a 14-14 tie on a 45-yard TD catch by Zlogar with 2:56 left in the second quarter. The Greyhounds regained the advantage with 5:56 remaining until the break on a one-yard run by senior QB Cody Williams (Wilbraham).

Assumption controlled the ball for the first 5:30 of the second half with a 14-yard pass from Williams to senior Deonte Harris (Middle River, Md.) on the drive's 12th play putting the Hounds in front to stay.

On top 31-21 after three, the visitors erupted for three fourth-quarter TDs with short scoring runs by grad student Matt Monks (Annandale, N.J.) and junior Doug Santos (Peabody) preceding Spence's interception return.

Rushing yards (249-72) and third down conversions (10 of 14, as compared to Bentley's 2 of 15) heavily favored Assumption. Overall, the Greyhounds outgained the Falcons 479-369 and finished with a 25-20 first-down advantage.

Sturm led the Bentley offense as he scrambled for 42 yards and completed 25 of 41 passes for a season-best 297 yards. Zlogar amassed a career-best 101 receiving yards on seven catches and Neville also pulled in seven for 59 yards. Senior Ryan McCarthy (Holden/Wachusett Reg. HS) followed with six receptions for 79 yards.

For Assumption,. Williams completed 13 of 18 for 167 yards and led the team's rushing attack with 88 yards on 20 carries.

Junior defensive back Pete Thorbahn (Norwell/Xaverian Bros. HS) was all over the field for the Falcons and finished with 10 tackles, his fifth interception of the season and a couple pass break-ups. He was matched in the tackle column by senior linebacker Andrew Carmichael (Wayland/Wayland HS).
