MANCHESTER, N.H. – Sophomore Leah Schiller (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe HS) was the top finisher for the Bentley University women's cross country team Saturday morning at the Saint Anselm College-hosted Shacklette Invitational.
Schiller placed 41st overall, in a field of 70, with a time of 22:03.3 for 5,000 meters.
With first-year coach Kevin Curtin resting most of his projected top seven runners, Bentley struggled to a sixth-place finish, among seven participants, with a score of 187.
Stonehill College bested Merrimack College, 32-51, for the team title, and freshman Chandler Ortega of Merrimack broke the tape, posting a 19:37.9 in her collegiate debut.
Next Saturday, Bentley will run in the UMass-Dartmouth Shriners Invitational.
