BOSTON, Mass. – For the fifth time already this season, Bentley University junior Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield HS) broke a school record.
The latest came Friday afternoon during the David Hemery Valentine's Invitational at Boston University when she ran the 200 meters in 25.96 seconds, two-hundredths of a second faster than she turned in during the UMass-Boston Indoor Open two months ago.
More than 200 runners competed in the 200 with Mattson finishing 63rd overall.
Her afternoon also included finishing 20th among 47 competitors in the long jump as she cleared 17 feet, 3.25 inches.
Freshman Sydney Hurwitz (Newton/Newton North HS) matched her personal best by running the 60 hurdles in 9.70 seconds.
Bentley will also be in action Saturday, competing in the Gordon Kelly Invitational at MIT.
