  • Mancini Named Northeast-10 Women’s Diver of the Year; Danehy Also Honored

    Bentley University freshman Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS) is a unanimous choice for 2013 Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Diver of the Year honors after an outstanding rookie season. Her coach, Rick Danehy, also was honored by the conference, with selection as NE-10 Women’s Diving Coach of the Year after sending four divers, including Mancini, to the NCAA Division II Championships in Birmingham, Ala.

    Freshman Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS) became the first women’s diving All-America in Bentley University history by finishing eighth in the one-meter during the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships at the CrossPlex Complex Thursday night.

    Bentley University senior diver Shelly D’Aleo (Enfield, Conn./Suffield Academy) and freshman teammate Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS) survived a pre-qualification meet Tuesday at the CrossPlex Complex, earning the right to compete in the NCAA Division II Championships later this week. A total of 22 divers, from a field of 41, advanced.
