Waltham, Mass. – Junior Eliza Bresler (Newton, Mass./Newton North) was named the NE10 Goalie of the Year on Thursday to highlight the postseason honors for the Bentley women's lacrosse team. Bresler, along with Julia Glavin (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich), Cara McCarthy (Salem, N.H./Central Catholic), Kate Schmal (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown) and Caroline Boudreau (Foxborough, Mass./Foxborough), were voted to All-Conference teams.
Glavin was picked to the second team as an attacker, McCarthy to the third team as a midfielder and Schmal, a defender, is on the third team as well. Boudreau, an attacker, was voted to the All-Rookie team.
Bresler, who is also the first team All-NE10 goalie, is the 5th NE10 Goalie of the Year in the program's history. She started all 16 regular season games and went 11-5, with a 53.1 save percentage and 11.24 goals against average. She had five games with a 60.0 save percentage or better, with a high of 78.6 in a win over AIC on Feb. 27. She made a season-high 22 saves in a victory over Southern N.H. on April 27.
She was also active in other parts of the game, and led the team in both caused turnovers (32) and ground balls (65).
Including the postseason, Bresler is currently 2nd in the NE10 in save percentage (52.9) and has the most total saves (217).
Glavin had another big season for the Falcons with 53 goals and 12 assists for 65 points in 16 regular season games. Including the postseason she scored 55 goals, good for 8th most in the NE10. She had at least three goals in 10 games this season, with seven goals in wins over both NYIT and Saint Michael's.
Glavin was also one of the top draw control takers in the NE10, with her total of 109 the 3rd most.
In just two seasons, she has 102 career goals and 189 draw controls.
McCarthy enjoyed a breakout sophomore season. After she tallied 19 goals as a freshman, she more than doubled that total this season with 43. She had two games with six goals, one of which was a double overtime win over Assumption on March 19 where she scored the winning goal.
She was also active defensively with 16 caused turnovers on the season.
Schmal, named to the All-Rookie team last season, continued her strong defensive presence in 2019 for Bentley. She caused 10 turnovers and scooped up 17 ground balls this season while playing lockdown defense.
Boudreau had a big offensive season in her rookie campaign. She finished 3rd on the team with 33 goals, and scored a high of six in a game at Stonehill on March 23rd. She had multiple goals in 10 of 17 games, and was named the NE10 Rookie of the Week on April 3rd.
