No. 5 LIU Post Tops Bentley in its Season Opener

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – No. 5 ranked LIU Post had four different players score multiple goals as the Pioneers topped Bentley University 15-5 in the Falcons' season opener on Wednesday afternoon.

While the Falcons were making their season debut, the Pioneers already had a game under their belt coming into today.

Bentley received goals from seniors Kathleen Gillespie (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet), Ciara Morley (Irvington, N.Y./Irvington), Carolyn Cruise (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich) and freshmen Julia Glavin (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) and Cara McCarthy (Salem, N.H./Central Catholic).

The Falcons had a 3-0 run in the 2nd half that spanned almost 12 minutes, while they kept LIU off the scoreboard for more than 15 minutes in the second half. Cruise, Glavin and Morley all scored during the run.

For the Pioneers, attacker Angela Deren led the offense with four goals, while midfielders Paige Sherlock and Brianna Feldman each had three goals.

Sophomore goalie Eliza Bresler (Newton, Mass./Newton North) made 14 saves, while Cruise led Bentley four draw controls.

The Falcons are now off for the next week-plus, and return to the field on Tuesday, March 13 at New York Tech.
