PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Bentley University senior Steven Long (Newton, Mass./Newton North HS) broke the school record in the hammer throw during Sunday's Brown University Springtime Open.
Long's throw of 130 feet improved on the record owned for the past two years by Greg Brown by two feet, 10 inches. In the meet, he placed 16th of 20, and was also 16th in the shot put with a throw of 43 feet, 9.75 inches, placing 16th of 30.
Sophomore Eric Kennedy (West Hartford, Conn./West Hartford HS) had a pair of top-eight finishes in the meet, tying for seventh of 30 in the 100 meters (11.24 seconds) and tying for eighth of 33 in the 200 (23.27).
This coming Friday and Saturday, Bentley will compete in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships at Southern Connecticut State.
